Greg Snyder – vocals, percussion, guitar
Greg started his musical career at the age of three by mastering the acapella version of “Three Little Fishes.” Since that time, his meteoric rise to fame has included jazz trumpeting, and live and radio performances in the 80’s with the techno-folk band Mental Floss. More recently, he’s performed with the Electric Cat Bite Acid Test, $3 Show, Wavematixs, GodFather Todd and the Swim Team, Lounge Lee-zards, The Chris Wallace Experience, and Reverend Reverb and the Rockabilities. The Vibronauts allows him to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no ‘Naut has gone before! (cue the music….). Greg loves fan mail and can be reached at greg@vibronauts.com.
Chris Henze – lead guitar
Chris started playing guitar in grade school. His favorite band back in the day was Ten Years After. After completing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, getting married and having three kids, the guitars were lost to the back of the closet. One day just after Christmas 2005, his middle daughter said, “Dad, I’m going to take your Les Paul back to college with me, OK?” And the rest of the conversation went something like this – Chris: “No.” Daughter: “Why not?” Chris:“A 30-year-old Les Paul doesn’t belong in a dorm room.” Daughter: “Please, I’ll take good care of it.” Chris: “No, the guitar stays here.” Daughter: “But, you don’t use it — just for this semester?” Chris: “No.” Daughter: “Why not? It’s just sitting there.” Chris: “I’m going to learn how to play it again”. That day, Chris signed up for lessons. A few months later, he was the biggest kid on stage at a Sunday afternoon guitar recital playing with the guitar teacher’s blues band. He has been playing for fun ever since.
Kent Reed – vocals, rhythm guitar
Kent studied piano and brass as a kid, then took up acoustic and electric guitar as an adult. He currently studies American guitar styles and electric blues with modern guitarist and music educator Mike Michel. His influences include the original Delta and Chicago bluesmen, R&B heavies and past and present blues-rock-funk artisans. He also performs acoustically with Faith Praise and True Charade.
Peggy Reed – bass
Peggy caught the guitar bug through horizontal transmission and migrated to the bass shortly thereafter. She appreciates music that features a bass line with some meat on the bone. She also performs acoustically with True Charade.
Jesse Freeman – vocals, drums
Jesse is a student of music and life. He joined the Vibronauts as a way to rehab and polish his chops after a nasty tendon injury. An integral part of the band, you can also catch him playing guitar with Bonnie Drunken Lad or as drummer with The Biscuits.
Jim “Mick” Mickelson – tenor sax
Mick had such fond memories of playing the clarinet in high school that when his daughter Abby’s alto saxophone was getting lonely in the basement closet after she left for college, he suggested that getting it reconditioned so he could learn to play it might be a great gift. His partner obliged and he’s been studying with local musician Jeff King ever since. He acquired a vintage tenor sax and the old alto is now in the hands of his granddaughter as she navigates middle school band. There’s nothing like spreading the music.
